Dear Conservatory of Movement Families,
Forty years ago, Barbara Land opened the Conservatory of Movement, setting in motion a legacy of excellence in dance education within our community. Joined by Miriam Allen, Alexander Van Alstyne with A.V.A. Ballet Theatre, and countless other talented faculty members, the Conservatory has become a cornerstone of our community, inspiring generations of dancers.
I am honored to announce that I am the new owner of the Conservatory of Movement. I began my own dance training at this studio at the age of three and so it is deeply meaningful to me to now have the opportunity to carry forward its legacy of quality dance education.
I began teaching at the studio in 2013 after earning my MFA in Ballet from the University of Utah. Since then, I have guided many dancers through the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and recently introduced the Rambert Grades syllabus in contemporary dance to expand our program.
In addition to my work at the studio, I am a Teaching Associate Professor of Dance at the University of Nevada, Reno, where I focus on training adult dancers to move in the healthiest and most efficient ways within the ballet vocabulary while fostering curiosity and scholarly inquiry into the art form.
While ownership has changed, our commitment to excellence, artistry, and safe dance practice remains the same. The Conservatory of Movement will continue to offer high-quality dance education in a supportive and inspiring environment, honoring the traditions that have made this studio so special for four decades—while also embracing thoughtful growth and new opportunities for our dancers.
Thank you for being a part of our dance family. We are grateful for your support and trust and I look forward to dancing with you all into this next chapter.
Sincerely,
Eve Allen Garza
